Life inspires in the most obscure and unique way. “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” is a well-known proverb, and never could it be more true than when talking about the inspiration behind Thakoon’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

The mattress, an object so many of us takes for granted despite the important function it provides, is hardly considered beautiful. It raises mundane, common connotations – even more so when it is thrown out, stained and damaged from use.

Taking the idea of a discarded mattress and translating it into Thakoon’s usual piece of art will be no small challenge – but is one we’re eagerly anticipating.
